PINEVILLE, LA. — Former Florida State football coach, Bobby Bowden, was the featured speaker on Thursday night, February 19, 2015, at the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet held at Louisiana College located in Pineville. Bowden said that he is proud of the impact he has had on the lives of his players as a Christian football coach. He admitted that all his trophies are locked in a storage room somewhere, while his true trophies are the lives he impacted through his involvement with the ministry. Source: The Town Talk.

“I could tell you thousands of stories of boys at Florida State who had lives changed because of FCA,” Bodwen said. “Because they’re not getting it in their homes. It’s not the boys’ fault. They never heard the Gospel, and all of a sudden they hear it, and it makes sense.”
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes celebrated its 60th year in 2014. Bowden said his own involvement with the organization began in 1963, when he was hired at Florida State as an assistant coach. He retired in 2009 with 389 wins. Bowden now speaks to FCA groups around the country as often as four times a week.
“I enjoy it if I can rest,” he said. “Because I don’t want to do nothing. I want to do something, so I speak all the time…. The main thing is, that if you and I accept Christ, we get to spend eternity together,” he said. Making it clear, the salvation of his fellow man is the only trophy Bobby Bowden cherishes today.

Bobby Bowden is the former head college football coach of the Florida State University Seminoles. His personality and charm are bigger than life and he has become somewhat of a folk hero.
