Mariano Rivera, Joe Torre Named Guest Speakers at SCSU

NEW HAVEN, CT. — New York Yankees legends Mariano Rivera and Joe Torre have been named the guest speakers as part of a lecture series to be held at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT. The event will take place on April 10, 2015 at 7 p.m. It is part of the Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture series in which a “political, social or creative leader” is brought to the SCSU campus. Past speakers have included Michael J. Fox, Peter Gammons and Brian Cashman, Bill Belichick, Colin Powell and others.Source: Meriden Record Journal.

HOWELL, MI. — Former MLB catcher Jim Sundberg was the keynote speaker on Oct. 9 for the Livingston Economic Club luncheon. The event took place Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Center at Cleary University in Genoa Township. TRENTON, NJ, — Yankees legend, Mariano Rivera, was honored Thursday night, August 7, 2014, by the MVP Foundation (Medicine Via Philanthropy) at Arm & Hammer Park for the work he and his family have done with the Mariano Rivera Foundation. When Rivera was introduced, it was announced that he was not being honored for his championship rings, not for all his saves — but for being a great human being.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Softball legend, Jennie Finch, recently hosted a softball clinic on Sunday July 13, at Major League Baseball’s T-Mobile All-Star FanFest. Finch, who retired from competition in 2010, regularly runs fundamentals camps for young softball players, but Sunday’s clinic was special, she said, because she was able to meet athletes from underserved communities.
