What made Hamilton decide to compete in one of the most grueling, physically exhausting and mentally crazy competitions? In her interview with ET Online, Hamilton was asked “Are you fearless”? Bethany responded, “I wouldn’t say necessarily fearless, more like adventurous.” Her husband interjected, “mostly fearless.”

The name Bethany Hamilton is synonymous with the word inspiration. She is a professional surfer, who at the age of 13, lost her left arm in a shark attack. She shares her story and faith in Jesus Christ to audiences around the world. She wrote about her experience in the 2004 autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. In April 2011, the film Soul Surfer was released, based on the book and interviews. She has made numerous television appearances since the loss of her arm.
