Former Seahawks Running Back Shaun Alexander Named Guest Speaker at Fellowship of Christian Athletes Fundraiser

JOHNSON CITY, TN — Leading Alabama rusher and former Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander was the guest speaker on Weds. Nov. 5, 2014 at the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes fundraising luncheon in Johnson City, TN. “It’s the same issue that you would have with any kid that gets in trouble in college or any kid that’s trying to find who they are in high school,” Alexander said. “It’s an identity crisis and really the only thing that anybody can lean on is who they really are, who they’ve been called to be, who they’ve been designed to be and that’s a worshipper and praiser of Jesus. Everything else won’t satisfy.”

Daytime Tri-Cities Amy Lynn served as the mc. The Fellowship of Christian athletes was blessed with a record camp attendance this summer. Over 200 local athletes and coaches went to FCA camps.

Shaun is a former running back who played for the Seattle Seahawks & Washington Redskins. A born-again Christian, Alexander and his wife are very outspoken about their faith and are regular attendees at Christian Faith Center, a charismatic megachurch in Federal Way. Firm supporters of abstinence and sexual purity, Shaun and Valerie both were virgins when they married. Alexander has discussed the issue publicly on many occasions, including in his book Touchdown Alexander.
