Former Washington Redskins WR Art Monk Named Guest Speaker at Heart of a Hall of Famer Character Series

Former Washington Redskins wide receiver, Art Monk, was the guest speaker on Nov. 11, 2014 where Monk spoke to students as part of the the Heart of a Hall of Famer character series. The series provides students the opportunity to interact and learn first-hand from legendary Gold Jackets what it takes beyond athletic ability to achieve success on and off the football field. Monk is a Hall of Fame wide receiver who enjoyed most of his success with the Washington Redskins from 1980 to 1993. He also played for the New York Jets  in 1994 and Philadelphia Eagles in 1995. He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection, a member of the 1980 All-Rookie team, four-time NFC Champion and a three time Super Bowl Champion. Monk is also the first receiver to have 900 career receptions.

When Monk received his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame and gave his acceptance speech on ESPN that evening, Monk told the American people that it was because of Jesus Christ that he is who he is today, and he achieved everything that he did in pro football, only because of God.
