SAN CLEMENTE, CA. — Soul Surfer, Bethany Hamilton, is competing in the World Surf League‘s Swatch Women’s Pro surfing event being held at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, CA. Hamilton has also been awarded the wildcard for the competition. COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Soul Surfer, Bethany Hamilton, stopped by Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach on Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs. Hamilton, who was bitten by a 14-foot shark in 2003 and lost her left arm in the attack, did not lose faith. A month later Bethany came back strong to win a national title. Bethany, known for surviving a shark attack on October 31, 2003 at the age of 13 in which her left arm was bitten off, ultimately overcame her injury to return to professional surfing and to serve Christ.

WASHINGTON, DC — ‘Soul Surfer, Bethany Hamilton, recently spoke during the National Prayer Breakfast held on February 6 in Washington, DC. Bethany spoke about her recovery after she lost her arm in a shark attack at the age of 13 and how her faith in Jesus Christ continues to give her the strength to overcome life’s adversities. Hamilton read two biblical passages and focused her message on overcoming adversities during her speech.
