NEW HAVEN, CT. — New York Yankees legends Mariano Rivera and Joe Torre have been named the guest speakers as part of a lecture series to be held at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT. The event will take place on April 10, 2015 at 7 p.m. It is part of the Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture series in which a “political, social or creative leader” is brought to the SCSU campus. Yankees Legend Mariano Rivera to Receive a Check on Behalf of His Church ‘Refuge of Hope’ at MVP Foundation Event

TRENTON. NJ. — Yankees legend, Mariano Rivera, is scheduled to appear on Thursday, Aug. 7 at Trenton’s Arm & Hammer Park as part of the the Fourth Annual MVP Foundation event. The announcement came from Dr. Thomas “Doc” Haveron, the Thunder’s official chiropractor. The MVP Foundation will present a check to Rivera and his family on behalf of his church, Refugio de Esperanza (Refuge of Hope), in a ceremony on the field before the Thunder vs. Altoona Curve game slated for 7:05 p.m. Rivera will also throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Mariano Rivera Restores Old New York Church for Refuge of Hope, the Pentecostal Christian Congregation Led by his Wife

Retired New York Yankees legend, Mariano Rivera, recently poured $3 million into a 107-year-old church in New Rochelle, New York, that desperately needed renovation to continue spreading the love of God to a community needing hope. The grey stone building had been a Presbyterian church but was abandoned in the 1970s and was eventually bought by New Rochelle, a diverse city of about 77,000 just 6 miles north of the Bronx.
