Yankees Legend Mariano Rivera to Receive a Check on Behalf of His Church ‘Refuge of Hope’ at MVP Foundation Event

TRENTON. NJ. — Yankees legend, Mariano Rivera, is scheduled to appear on Thursday, Aug. 7 at Trenton’s Arm & Hammer Park as part of the the Fourth Annual MVP Foundation event. The announcement came from Dr. Thomas “Doc” Haveron, the Thunder’s official chiropractor. The MVP Foundation will present a check to Rivera and his family on behalf of his church, Refugio de Esperanza (Refuge of Hope), in a ceremony on the field before the Thunder vs. Altoona Curve game slated for 7:05 p.m. Rivera will also throw the ceremonial first pitch.

“Mariano and his family have done so much for the community through the Mariano Rivera Foundation and the restoration of Refugio de Esperanza,” said Haveron. “He was a legendary player, an amazing humanitarian, and a friend of the MVP Foundation and we’re so happy he and his family will be part of this year’s event.”

The MVP Foundation has held their annual event at the park for the past three years. Past special guests include Seatle Mariners Robinson Cano and former San Antonio Spurs David Robertson. Source: NJ.com.
